An angry mob made up of residents of Ha Nyenye, Maputsoe on Tuesday stoned to death a suspected burglar who had been terrorising the community of the industrial town located in Leribe for several weeks.

The man who was also a resident of Ha Nyenye was notorious for breaking into homes in broad daylight. Some of the people interviewed in the mob said the deceased who was in his late 20’s mainly targeted homes belonging factory workers and helped himself to whatever valuables he found there.

They said after they arrested him at one of the houses this week, the mob took him to a nearby graveyard where he had hidden some of the items he had stolen.The furious crowd is alleged to have thereafter stoned the suspected thief to death. No one has been arrested in connection with the incident and police are investigating a case of murder.
