MASERU (TMGLive) – Miss Selemeng Amy Mokorosi is only 22. She was born and raised in Maseru West. This young lady attended Tiny Tots for both pre- and primary school then headed to Mariasdal High School in Tweespruit in the Free State Province of South Africa. Subsequently, she completed an Associate Degree in Architecture Technology in 2017 at the Limkokwing University of Creative Technology, in Maseru.

Thereafter, this self-driven and motivated young lady partnered with Mr. Lehlohonolo Makara and Miss Mammei Ntsane and started a company called Archimate Designs in October 2017. With the company, they do house plans and designs. Recently, Miss Selemeng started her own company called Classic Adventures and Tours Travel Agency. Miss Selemeng looks up two well-known and respected women, who are also in the field of Architecture, Zaha Mohammad Hadid and Amanda Levete.

Hadid, an Iraqi-British architect, was the first woman to receive the Pritzker Architecture Prize in 2004. She also received the UK’s most prestigious architectural award, the Stirling Prize in 2010 and 2011, and was the first woman to be awarded the Royal Gold Medal from the Royal Institute of British Architects. According to The Guardian, a British publication, she is the 'Queen of the curve', who "liberated architectural geometry” and gave it a whole new expressive identity.

On the other hand, Levete, during the 2017 Queens Birthday Honours, she was appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire for service to architecture. In 2018, Levete was awarded the Jane Drew Price by The Architects’ Journal and The Architectural Review.

“These two women inspire me to be a better Architecture. I hope someday that one of my major works will be spoken of in future.

“I also have looked up to my own mother as an entrepreneur growing up for as long as I could remember. She also inspires me to be my own boss; hence, why I decided to open another company on my own.

“I have heard that having someone to report to is not so pleasant, so I want to be my own boss,” she laughed as she concluded.
