Maseru - The Ministry of Small Business Development, Cooperatives and Marketing announced that the new regulation that governs the buying and selling of wool and mohair has been implemented. Speaking at a media briefing held at the Ministry's boardroom on Tuesday, the Minister of the aforementioned ministry, Mr. Chalane Phori defined the regulation as Natural Marketing Wool and Mohair 2018, adding that the regulation only entails farmers in possession of a brochure licence from the ministry. He added that such farmers' businesses should be legally registered and abide by the rules and regulations that govern this country. Mr. Phori added that this regulation is going to boost the country's economy due to the revenue income. He further added that Lesotho has been independent for over 50 years, yet it still among the Least Developed Countries, adding that this should be a wake-up call to every Mosotho. According to the Minister, the regulation entails every person dealing with sheering and trading of wool and mohair regardless of race or citizenship. Furthermore, Mr. Phori applauded the Chinese Business Community, which is currently mobilising Chinese businesses to ensure that they sell fresh food stuffs. Speaking at the same press conference, the Director of Marketing in the same Ministry, Mr. Lekhooe Makhate noted the penalties for trading illegally will be two years imprisonment, a M20,000 fine, or both as well as five years imprisonment or M50,000 fine or both.
