MASERU – Wool and mohair famers can finally have a breather after five companies were yesterday awarded brokering licenses to operate in Lesotho.

The five include BKB, Maluti Wool and Mohair Centre, OVK (CMW), Frasers and Highlands Veterinary Services. Chairperson of the Lesotho National Wool and Mohair Growers Association Mokoenihi Thinyane said they were relieved to be finally out of Stone Shi’s claws. Mr Shi is a Chinese businessman who operates the Thaba-Bosiu Wool Centre.

The introduction of the new five players comes after this week famers considered to once again petition Parliament to get a response on the grievances they submitted earlier on. Among others, they wanted to be given permission to trade with BKB again.
