His Majesty King Letsie III arrived in Rome, Italy yesterday to attend an annual board meeting at the World Food Programme (WFP) where he will deliver a key note address. Speaking from Rome, the Minister of Education and Training, Professor Ntoi Rapapa who is in his Majesty’s entourage said Lesotho will table a report on progress on reducing stunting and hunger in children.

He said Lesotho still faces a serious challenge that its school feeding programme only covers learners at primary school level while those aged from zero to five years need nutrition more. During the meeting, he said they will also present proposals to WFP to assist in the coming five years. Their plan, he also showed was that after 2024, ministries and private companies will take the responsibility for the overall nutrition while the WFP will only assist with the monitoring aspect of things.

The rest of His Majesty’s delegation comprises the Minister of Foreign Affairs Lesekgo Makgothi, the Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister's office Ts’ehlo Ramarou, the Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food Security Dr Nthabiseng Makoae, Principal Secretaries and government officials. LeNA
