This announcement was made by the Minister of Tourism, Environment and Culture, Chief Joang Molapo on national television on Tuesday. Molapo said the regulation is intended to save the lives of Basotho through discouraging public gatherings.

The minister further cautioned the nation that the regulation will be vigorously enforced.

This, he said is in line with safety measures taken by the government in response to the Coronavirus pandemic.
He said during the week days, off sales, public bars, clubs and shebeens will open from 10am to 6pm, adding they will operate between 10am and 2pm over the weekends.
