MASERU - The Lesotho Highlands Development Authority (LHDA) in partnership with the Smallholder Agricultural Development Project, Basotho Enterprise Development Corporation and the Youth Enterprise Unit of the Ministry of Gender and Youth, Sports and Recreation will roll out an awareness programme on enterprise-based livelihood options for communities in electoral divisions within the Lesotho Highlands Water Project (LHWP) Phase II project area in Mokhotlong.

According to information from LHDA, the awareness programmes which are set to commence on Monday in Maluba-lube, are intended to provide local communities with a menu of viable, sustainable livelihood options.

The aim is to support these communities to move from subsistence production to commercialising their small livelihood generation activities, the LHDA said.
The information states that the programmes are part of the broader Phase II livelihood restoration planning programme, which aims to assist affected communities to be better prepared for the changes that the project will bring.
