LATEST COVID-19 updates released by the National COVID-19 Secretariat (NACOSEC) show a steady rise in COVID-19 related fatalities, standing at 339.

No recoveries were recorded as they remain at 6 601 while 245 newly confirmed cases increase the total to 12 398, after 2 640 tests were conducted.

About 125 501 specimens have been tested since testing started.

The update comes after the secretariat expressed its discontent at the way Basotho have been behaving, calling for community engagement in containing the virus.

NACOSEC Communications and Publicity Manager, 'Mateboho Mosebekoa said communities have to take responsibility of ensuring that they contain the virus through adhering to all health protocols set by the World Health Organisation (WHO).

About two weeks ago, Deputy Prime Minister Mathibeli Mokhothu announced that the country had moved to the blue colour code, adding that the government has therefore prohibited activities including political rallies, concerts and public gatherings in a bid to stop the spread of the virus.
