MAHARASHTRA, India has reported 26 616 new COVID- 19 cases, 48 211 recoveries and 516 deaths in the last 24 hours. With this, the total number of cases has reached 54 05 068. The state has recorded 48 74 582 recoveries and 82 486 deaths to date.

It now has 4 45 495 active cases. Among the fresh cases, 1 240 were from Mumbai. On the other hand, Delhi recorded 4 524 fresh COVID-19 cases, the lowest single-day spike since April 5.

It also registered 340 deaths. The positivity rate has dipped to 8.42 percent.

Earlier, a report submitted by the National AEFI Committee to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said that bleeding and clotting cases following COVID vaccination in India are minuscule and in line with the expected number of diagnoses of these conditions in the country.

The Andhra Pradesh government on Monday extended the ongoing curfew across the state till end of May to contain and combat the spread of the novel coronavirus, the Chief Minister’s Office stated.

Meanwhile, Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Minister of Health Dr Harsh Vardhan on Monday released the first batch of Anti-Covid drug 2DG developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).

The Drugs Controller General of India (DGCI) approved the 2-deoxy-D-glucose (2-DG) drug for emergency use as an adjunct therapy in moderate to severe coronavirus patients earlier this month.

India, in the last 24 hours, recorded 2 81 386 new COVID-19 cases, the Union Health Ministry update showed on Monday.

With this, the total tally reached 24 965 463. The case count has fallen below the 3-lakh mark for the first time in 25 days. However, 4 106 people succumbed to the disease in the said period, which pushed up the death toll to 274 390. The number of active cases has gone down to 3 516 997 from Sunday’s 3 618 458 — the biggest single-day drop ever. THE INDIAN EXPRESS
