Staff Reporter and LENA Botha-Bothe -Amid political corruption and people's disgust at dishonest politicians in Lesotho, King Letsie III still remains a social cohesion force for Basotho at any given time. On Tuesday 17, 2018, Lesotho's northern district of Butha Buthe hosted King Letsie's birthday. A jovial well organised august occasion befitting Royalty the day was, from start to finish, events of the day ran smoothly at Butha Buthe Pitso Ground regardless of it being filled to capacity. The event was well attended by representatives of countries with diplomatic ties to Lesotho, Basotho artists, we only knew of through the event (TOGETHER), a united parade of LDF members, LMPS members and LCS members, the first of its kind for a national festivity in Lesotho, and a step responsive to SADC Recommendations National Reforms. The young and old alike, from in and around Butha Buthe as well as droves of other Basotho from other parts of Lesotho and beyond the country's borders including former Prime Minister Pakalitha Mosisili celebrated with the King. The people of Likileng expressed their gratification at the fact that their village successfully hosted the King’s 55th Birthday. "Regardless of what may happen, we will always love our King because he values us and he is our symbol of unity," says Ms Mathabo Mohale of Likileng. She continued that, "Politicians will always disappoint us but the King has our best interests at heart. Since King Moahoeshoe II living years, I have always loved and valued my King because he is a uniting force. We are blessed to have the King Letsie celebrating among and with us, this is a momentus event for us and our children, worth cherishing because some of us are seeing our king for the first time". The people of Butha Buthe, were further  grateful as the hosting district because this year unlike in all the years there is noticeableservice delivery development(s) which have been made in the district that include roads that will enable easy travelling for people. They wished the King a happy birthday filled with more years and wisdom to continue leading this nation. Meanwhile, one of the bakers Mrs. Bolaoana Mpakanyane thanked the Member of Parliament for the Botha Buthe No.5 constituency Mr. Motlohi Maliehe for standing up for them as Botha Buthe cake suppliers who were not being given an opportunity to supply as local people. She therefore urged Mr. Maliehe to continue supporting Local Economic Development and local business despite all odds. The 55 King's birthday was celebrated for two days in the Botha Buthe district whereby on Monday 16th, the ceremony was held in Qholaqhoe at which the monument of the first leader of Makhoakhoa Chief Lethole Matela was unveiled followed by the sod turning of a public library at Makhunoane.
