MASERU - Born Bokang Sehlare, DJ Beekay Sehlare, says he takes his disc-jocking trade quite seriously unlike many wannabe DJs, the reason why he went to study music at a professional music school in South Africa.

The 27-year-old turn-table spinner is a regular entertainer at the Cuban Linx club and shows that in 2011, he studied disc-jocking as a professional programme at the Malawaneng Media and Communications College in Gauteng, South Africa. Although he hails from Naledi in Maseru, he spent most of his youth days in SA where he learnt to polish his act after completing school.  The artist is now adventuring in Lesotho.

“Exposure is very important in this industry; this is why I am based here now. However, for Lesotho DJs to be taken seriously, the business needs to be handled professionally. Every business requires proper management skills, which can be studied at relevant schools,” he says. He also adds: “We also need to form a union that will protect the interests of local Dee Jays, like legally protecting our services.”
