MASERU - Lesotho junior dance sport star couple Katleho Lerata and Montsheng Matlanyane returned home victorious after winning the Independence Cup in the open dancesport championships held in Gaborone, Botswana on Saturday.

Contestants at the competition were drawn from Botswana, Seychelles and Lesotho  The competition was categorized in to two sections being junior championship and adult champion, where each and every state was represented by two couples per category. 

In the junior champion ship, Lesotho was represented by Katleho Lerata and Montsheng Matlanyane, Katleho Maseela and Ntsoaki Moholoholo who brought the silver medal home.  While in adult championship, the mountain kingdom was represented by Matela Matjejane and Thato Majara who grabbed the Bronx meda,l Lerata Ramanki and Konosoang Lebesa who occupied the fifth position.

Lesotho participated in this competition during this time when they will be hosting different states in Prince Cup Champion to be held on Saturday.  The countries that will partake in this competition include Italy, Lesotho, Botswana, Swaziland, and Republic of South Africa while Cameroon and Estonia are expected to confirm participation. 

The organizer of this event, William Nthejane stressed that open dance championships were of great importance as it granted them a chance to introspect their ability, as they will be the hosting nation.  “We have weighed our ability and we are hoping for the best on this competition,” said Nthejane.
