NO matter how close one is to their partner, stress can dull the spark, and sometimes a night date just won’t cut it.

There is nothing better than a vacation, away from work, family, and the stress of everyday life, to bring couples closer.

Sharing new experiences and adventures, or visiting romantic places shared from the exciting days of the relationship, can go a long way towards reminding the couple as to what attracted each to the other, not to mention, luxury hotels.

In a bid to rekindle love in relationships, Afriski Mountain Resort will from June 10 - 13 hold the first Couples Retreat course to be offered in Lesotho.

According to the resort, planning a couples retreat is not quite like planning other types of vacations, as priorities are different than if one travels with young children or going on a business leisure trip, and there are other things to take into consideration.

To make planning and booking a romantic retreat simpler and more enjoyable, needs a proper planning, researchers say.

Afriski says in the past year, stories have circulated about crumbling relationships due to the destruction of livelihoods, business closures and retrenchments as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Most of us can agree that a relationship can be both amazing as well as extremely hard. If a relationship is primarily built on external or two-dimensional factors, such as money, time and other material factors, it is built on sinking sand,” Afriski notes in a statement.

It further shows that marriage can be so much more.

“It is the establishment of a union, which is spiritual, emotional and physical, a life-long commitment is pledged and a ‘team’ is created. It provides an opportunity to grow in selflessness and grow the love-ability between spouses and children. The challenge is to look at the relationship from the inside, the intrinsic collective couple value and not the outside which focuses on material success.”

To calculate Collective Couple Value (CCV), one looks at how couples disempower or empower each other, resulting in their collective volitional power and collective Occupational Intelligences (OI).

The higher the occupational intelligence, the more responsive, adaptive and contributively couples are to each other and the more this unity contributes to their sustainable well-being.

The resort’s General Manager Vivienne Schultz says most couples do not know their potential or what blocks it.

Ms Schultz has accumulated years of experience in the neuro-behavioural and occupational sciences field, developing simple tools and CCV formula’s for couples to work with and grow.
