AFRO jazz artiste, Thari-Ea-Tsheepe has returned to the music scene with a fresh sound of poetry and Afro jazz fusion. The long-awaited debut – “Bana Ba Thari” is a follow-up to his 2015 self-titled EP and is set to be launched later this month.

As a performer of traditional poetry, Thari-Ea-Tsheepe, real name Thaabe Lelosa, 29, is the first artiste in Lesotho to fuse his skills in three genres - jazz, Sothohop and acapella.

Top songs in the album include "Phato" (August), which is already premiering exclusively in local radio stations.

Thari-Ea-Tsheepe deems himself a legitimate heir of the Lithoko tribe, a passionate artiste with praise poetry uniquely infused in Afro-jazz music — a culture-driven style.

He is the founder of Bana Ba Thari Cultural Dance Crew, a group of cultural female dancers.

He recorded all the tracks in the album at BK's studio in Maseru, working with his producer, SaMoqhRa.

The album features musical giants such as Tlali-Mothoana, Thaathe and the melodious female artiste, Mosimoli. Bass guitarist, Mega, has proved his skills in tracks like Phato, Litau and Lesotho.

Bana Ba Thari is composed of 10 tracks that Thari-Ea-Tsheepe wrote within a month.

Throughout this new album, his relaxing chill out praise poetry style remains evident, yet more mature, with a refined view at the world.
Having successfully completed the album, Thari-Ea-Tsheepe and his crew are now ready to sell it through flash-drives encrypted to be non-rewritable.

This is because we now live in the modern world where CD's are slowly fading away.

“Truly, we didn’t expect the whole album to turn out so well, especially bearing in mind that we have been recording it during the COVID-19 pandemic era.

“The songs are inspired by some great life-changing events in my life, including a glimpse to my past — my real roots. And while each song varies in tone, they all are originals and circle back to one universal theme. ‘Bana Ba Thari’ is a poetry-filled, catchy collection of reminders that our cultural roots, love, harmony, diversity and unity can co-exist in our modern world," explains the gifted musician.

SaMoqhRa, Thari-Ea-Tsheepe's producer, has high hopes for the success of this album.

He says: “The new album is so fascinating. The best word to describe it is unique. Listeners will find it perfect for cultural purposes and heritage.”
