AT least seven employees of the Storm Mountain Diamonds, Kao Mine died on Monday when a bus they were travelling in ran off the road and plunged into the Tlaeeng Pass in Mokhotlong.

The bus was transporting the employees from the mine to Maseru when the accident happened, the Mine's Community and Stakeholder Liaison Officer, Moeketsi Chefa said.

He said immediately after the accident was reported, the company's emergency procedures were activated and the industrial safety and occupational health personnel went to the scene to rescue the victims.

Mr Chefa said the mine regrets the accident, adding that the management is working hard to contact the families of the victims.

The mine is located in Botha-Bothe.
