Two members of the newly elected ruling All Basotho Convention (ABC) National Executive Committee have confirmed receiving letters of suspension from the party. Sam Rapapa and Montoeli Masoetsa made the announcement yesterday during a pressing briefing held at the party offices in Maseru.

The members of the new NEC had on Friday gained access to the office after they were given the go-ahead to change the door locks by the landlord. The new spokesperson Masoetsa said they were forced to change the locks after the outgoing secretary general Samonyane Ntsekele had allegedly declined to hand over the keys to them.

The old NEC held on the office keys despite a last week court order declaring the new committee as the legitimate one. Rapapa who is the party’s new chairperson of conferences said he received his suspension letter on Saturday while Masoetsa’s came earlier yesterday. The letters asked the members to show cause why they should not be suspended from the party after attending the rallies that were held in Qoaling, Qalabane and Koro-Koro. Other three NEC members who received suspension letters included party deputy leader Professor Nqosa Mahao, secretary general Lebohang Hlaele and 'Matebatso Doti. Mahao, Hlaele and Doti received theirs’ on Friday.
