THE wife of a senior police officer who is accused of the murder of Police Constable Mokalekale Khetheng has pleaded with her husband’s lawyer to continue representing him, after the jurist ditched him last month.

Accused cop’s wife coaxes back his indifferent lawyer
First accused Senior Superintendent Thabo Tšukulu
The High Court this week heard how King’s Counsel Karabo Mohau who had dropped Senior Superintendent Thabo Tšukulu as his client rejoined the defence team after the latter’s wife coaxed him back.
Mohau ditched Tšukulu in April as the trial was about to commence, contending that his client’s pro deo fees had not been paid for.
Advocate Thulo Hoeane had immediately been appointed by the Registrar of the High Court to replace Mohau.
But Tšukulu had shown great displeasure at being represented by Hoeane.
When asked by the court on Wednesday whether his services are private or pro deo, Mohau indicated that he would be representing Tšukulu as per his wife’s request.

Tšukulu together with Mothibeli Mofolo, Mabitle Matona and Haleokoe Taasoane, all members of the LMPS are accused of the murder of PC Khetheng in March 2016.
They also face multiple charges comprising perjury and defeating ends of justice.
They are charged along with former Minister of Defence Tšeliso Mokhosi, former Police Commissioner Molahlehi Letsoepa and Senior Assistant Police Commissioner Tšeliso Moerane.
