MASERU (TMGLive) – The Lesotho Under-17 squad (Bahlabani) will leave for Mauritius this Saturday at to compete in the Under-17 Confederation of Southern Africa Football Associations (U-17 COSAFA).

They will take a flight from Moshoeshoe 1 International Airport. This will be the first time Bahlabani compete in this tournament since they last featured in the Gaborone 2016 tourney in Botswana. They started with their preparations in December 2017; however, camp only started on July 2 at Bambatha Sports Arena.

During the preparation period, Bahlabani played three matches against Kick4Life, FC Likhopo and one with a village club. On Monday, they played their first international match against Botswana in Gaborone, where they won 1-0 and 3-2 on Tuesday.

The Bahlabani squad is as fllows:

Goalkeepers: Retselisitsoe Marake, Matlatsi Sebapala and Mosoeu Seahlolo.

Defenders: Thapelo Lebesa, Thabo Raphuthing, Siyabonga Monyaka, Thapelo Mohale, Tebello Mosoeu and Rorisang Moqhali.

Midfielders: Katleho Rapuleng, Kananelo Rapuleng, Tebelo Lethoko, Kananelo Taneso, Khotso Motsoane, Mohua Phapahtisa, Lehlohonolo Tšukulu and Molutsoane Motopelo.

Strikers: Hlomelang Lebina and Mahooana Mashale.

Team officials: Head Delegation - Thabo Maretlane, Manager - Lehlohonolo Matlosa, Head Coach - Halemakale Mahlaha, Assistant Coach - Shalane Lehohla, Goalkeeper Coach - Ezaiah Mosala, Medical -Letsie Molapo and Kit Manager - Telle Mohami.

The Team Manager, Lehlohonolo Matlosa told Metro that: “We are at a learning stage with these young boys and they have never played in any international competitive stage. For the record, Lesotho always defeats South Africa and Mozambique which are in the same group with us and Zambia.”

Meanwhile, the 2018 U-17 fixture are as follows:

Group Stage – on Thursday July 19 at 10:00am, Namibia will face Seychelles; at 12:30pm Zambia will host Mozambique; and at 3:30pm the host nation Mauritius will lock horns with Botswana to close the day one.

On Friday July 20 at 10:00am Angola will host Malawi; at 12h:30pm Eswatini will lock horns with Zimbabwe; and at 3:00pm Lesotho will face South Africa.

On Saturday the July 22 at 12:00pm South Africa will take on Mozambique; and at 3:00pm Zambia will lock horns with Lesotho.

On Sunday July 23 at 12:00pm Malawi will take on Zimbabwe; and at 3:00pm Angola will face Eswatini. On Monday July 24 at 12:00pm Namibia will take on Botswana; and at the same time Seychelles will face Mauritius. At 3:00pm Lesotho will lock horns with Mozambique while South Africa will be playing against Zambia but at different venues.

On the Tuesday July 25 at 3:30pm Eswatini will face Malawi and at the same time Zimbabwe will lock horns with Angola to end the group states.

The semi-finals will be played on Wednesday July 27 at 12:30pm and 3:30pm. On Friday July 29 at 11:00am it will be the third and fourth place play-offs and the final will be at 3:00 to complete the tourney.
