MASERU - Two Basotho women who were arrested in Ghana for illegally trading in drugs are currently awaiting trial in a Ghanaian prison.

Lineo Lucy Motseki and ’Mamothobi Shale were arrested along with two Nigerian men after drugs were found in their possession.

The four have already appeared before the Ghana High Court on November 14, 28 and December 12, 2019.

All accused were remanded in custody, police spokesperson Superintendent Mpiti Mopeli told a press briefing on Monday.

Supt Mopeli said the drugs were found in the women's luggage after they were engaged by one of Nigerian who had paid them M5 000 each to transport his clothes.

The women, who are businesspeople, met the Nigerian during a business trip in Johannesburg, Supt Mopeli also said.
