THE Minister of Education and Training Ntlhoi Motsamai says the Junior Certificate (JC) and Lesotho General Certificate of Secondary Education (LGCSE) examinations which were postponed earlier in January will commence from February 22- March 31.

Announcing the new exam dates on Saturday, the minister said the Examination Council of Lesotho (ECOL) will make new arrangements for the examinations and issue a timetable soon.
Ms Motsamai said as the examinations will be written under the current surge of COVID-19, learners and teachers are expected to stay safe and comply with health safety protocols set out by the World Health Organisation (WHO) and the Ministry of Health.
She noted that principals and schools' boards are expected to launch cleaning campaigns at their respective schools, especially in areas where examinations will be held.

She therefore appealed to the parents and guardians to ensure that the learners always have their masks at all the times as per the law.

Ms Motsamai further encouraged parents and guardians to support learners as they prepare for the examinations and during the exams.

The JC and LGCSE examinations were postponed when the country went on national lockdown three weeks ago. Under the new relaxed lockdown, schools are still closed and only learners who will be sitting for examinations are allowed to be at school.
