MAPUTSOE – A 14 year-old learner from a Maputsoe high school was on Wednesday handed over to the police by fuming villagers after he allegedly raped a 6-year-old girl from Popopo.

The suspect who is also from the same village is a Form A pupil. He is alleged to have sexually molested the young girl about four times over a certain period of time. The incident was discovered by the victim’s mother who reported it to the area headman, Chief Taaso Ramohanoe.

Ramohanoe who led the expedition that later arrested the suspect said the boy was assaulted by members of the public after his arrest before he was handed over to the police. Meanwhile, Maputsoe police have opened a case of rape against the suspect.
