MASERU – The public relations officer of the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) Tuoe Hants’i who is accused of threatening to shoot a colleague will appear before the Maseru Magistrate’s Court on October 1.

The matter was postponed yesterday because some of the witnesses did not show up in court.  Only the complainant and the investigating officer turned up for the hearing.  The court therefore rescheduled the matter to give the missing witnesses time to come to court.

Mr Hants’i’s lawyer Advocate Rethabile  Setlojoane said some of the witnesses did not come to court because they were not officially summoned.

It is alleged that Mr Hants’i, 47, of Ha Matala Phase II threatened to kill Mr Lebohang Bulane by pointing a firearm at him during a scuffle that occurred at the IEC head office located at the MGC building on May 21.

Mr Hants'i paid a M300 bail deposit for his temporary reprieve and was ordered not to interfere with crown witnesses especially the complainant. He was also instructed to attend remand hearings on set dates and stand trial to finality. The case is before Magistrate ’Makopano Rants’o and Mr. Qcqinimuzi Tshabalala prosecutes.
