Khathang-tema Baits'okoli, an association of informal traders has urged members to make hay while the sun shines in 2019 by saving their revenues through cooperatives. Chairperson of the association Ts'olo Lebitsa described cooperatives as an authentic and effective system for saving; that it is also supported by the Ministry of Small Businesses Development, Cooperatives and Marketing. He stressed that through cooperatives, informal traders can be able to efficiently save money and achieve their economic related goals.

He urged informal traders who have already established the cooperatives to be exemplary to others by promoting team work and transparency in order to ensure sustainability. He encouraged those who are not yet involved in the cooperatives to join those that are already existing or establish their own. Lebitsa appealed to informal traders, especially those that operate in cities and the public in general to help keep the country and towns clean. He stressed that they should ensure that areas which they occupy are always clean. Cooperatives are described as autonomous associations of persons united voluntarily to meet their common economic, social and cultural needs and aspirations through a jointly owned and democratically controlled enterprise.
