HIS Majesty King Letsie III will lead a nationwide cleaning campaign to mark this year’s edition of Lesotho’s Independence Day.

The country gained its independence on October 4, 1966 from Britain and this year marks the 54th anniversary.

The Independence Day cleaning campaign is a continuation of other campaigns that were led by Prime Minister Dr Moeketsi Majoro last month in Maseru.

The cleaning sprees were initiated by the Ministries of Local Government and Chieftainship Affairs as well as Tourism, Environment and Culture.
According to an official statement from government, because this year's Independence Day falls on Sunday, the celebrations have consequently been shifted to next Friday.
