He asserted: “Miss University Africa is envisaged to bring a good long lasting relationship of the countries and create a platform to showcase Lesotho's heritage to the nations with which she would be participating towards the development of her economy and tourism.” According to him, a 23 year-old Palesa Makara of Khubetsoana in the outskirts of Maseru who is a former student of Lesotho Agricultural College, was crowned Miss Lesotho 2019.

Tlali noted that Ms. Makara is going to be a Brand Ambassador of Mpilo Boutique Hotel. When approached for comment, Ms. Makara refused to divulge more details about her being the winner - except to admit she was happy - indicating she was not in the position to talk to the media until she had been given a go ahead. Prior to the beauty pageant, Basotho Enterprise Development Corporation (BEDCO) held Arts and Crafts day where crafters showcased their products on stalls in preparation for Miss University Africa.
