MASERU – A man and a woman are fighting for their lives in hospital after the woman’s husband who suspected they had an affair attempted to kill them by showering them with a volley of shots.

The suspected lovers, both aged 34 were sitting in the man’s vehicle in Naledi when the woman’s husband appeared out of nowhere and opened fire on them.

The suspect of Koalabata, Berea, surrendered himself along with his legally owned firearm - a 7.65mm pistol to the police after the incident.

The two victims suffered serious gunshot injuries from the shooting.

According to police reports, the 45-year-old suspect had earlier accused his wife of having an affair with the other man but she shot down the allegations.

“The husband found the two in the man’s car in Naledi on November 30 and started shooting at the car, seriously injuring the occupants. Both are currently fighting for their lives in hospital. The suspect remains in custody and is expected to appear before court soon,” police spokesperson Superintendent Mpiti Mopeli told a press briefing on Monday.
