MASERU - The Deputy Minister of Home Affairs, Machesetsa Mofomobe, was over the weekend elected as the new deputy Leader of the Basotho National Party (BNP) unseating Chief Joang Molapo during an elective conference held in Mazenod.

Mr Mofomobe who is the BNP’s former public relations officer garnered 276 votes at the polls while his rival Chief Molapo only managed 120.

Chief Molapo is also the Minister of Tourism. Chief Thesele ’Maseribane remains the leader of the party after he ran unchallenged. Bothata Lephema is the party’s new chairperson and is deputized by Sam Makatse.

Dr Nthabiseng Makoae has been elected as the party treasurer and her deputy is Keletso Mphoso. The new secretary general is Ts'epo Lethobane and is deputised by Moeketsi Hanyane.
'Masetota Leshota is the new PRO while Matsoso Ts'oaeli has been elected as the new national organiser. Other members include 'Mamoshoeshoe Molapo, Mosokotso Lephele, 'Masekone Matlosa and Letlafuoa Molapo.
