THE Mayor of Mantsopa Local Municipality (MLM) Mamsie Tsoene has apologised to families that are closely affected by sewage spills in the area, promising to speedily address the challenge.

Speaking during a tour of the affected areas on Thursday, Ms Tsoene said her technical team was already working hard to get a permanent solution.

She was accompanied by the Director of Technical Services Afrika Masuka and his team along with the Manager of Housing Division Khooe Matsekane and the Chief Financial Officer Sello Nyapholi.

“I first had a meeting with the technical team this morning as I wanted to understand what their challenges are and how we can resolve them speedily.

“I often go to the field to monitor service delivery but today was worth undertaking. I saw the challenges but I am happy the team is working hard to overcome them,” the mayor said.

MLM TLB removes sewage spill

After Ms Tsoene personally apologised for the untoward situation in the area, some of the residents applauded the municipality for working around the clock for a permanent solution to their problem.

The MLM technical team later sprinkled an alkaline solution to help neutralise acid levels in the soil after removing the sewage spill with a TLB.
