Minister, Mayor clash
Mr Lits'oane held a press conference on Monday to inform the public about the decisions made by the ministry regarding a number of issues
Mr Lits'oane held a press conference on Monday to inform the public about the decisions made by the ministry regarding a number of issues. The issues he discussed included, among others, the tender panel, loans and salary advances as well as travel policies made by MCC. Mr Lits’oane accused the council of implementing the policies against the Local Government Act. He also announced that the tender board which had been formed by the councillors was against the Act. The tender board, he therefore showed, had been dissolved, adding that the mentioned policies should also not be used. For their part, the councillors also held their own press briefing the following day to set the record straight about the issues the minister raised at his own media conference.

MCC Mayor, Mpho Moloi said they were shocked to learn about the dissolution of the tender board. Ms Moloi said while the minister made that announcement, the Mpilo Road and other major roads in the city were in the process of being upgraded. The Mayor said tenders for such development should therefore be awarded. Another councillor Lebohang Karala accused Mr Lits’oane of addressing the media without consulting them to get the correct information.
