OVER 40 information and communication technology (ICT) professionals drawn from various government ministries were awarded certificates of appreciated on Tuesday after completing a four-week training on System Centre Configuration Manager (SCCM) and Active Directory (AD) course.

Awarding the certificates, the Minister of Communications, Science and Technology, Sam Rapapa said in 2014, the ministry partnered with the African Development Bank to ensure amongst others capacity building in the ICT area.  

“This is in line with the e-government project whose first phase ends this month while the second phase has just started,” he said.
Mr Rapapa commended the participants, saying this will go a long way towards enhancing quality service delivery in various ministries.

The Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Communications, ’Mabataung Khalane said the training will enable staff to deliver effectively, especially seeing that technology has become the way out in this era of the COVID-19 pandemic.

She also applauded the participants for completing the training, adding it will improve competitiveness in government service.

She thanked the African Development Bank for supporting the project.

“Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, ICT remains key if the country is to progress,” Ms Khalane said.

For his part, ICT Director and Coordinator e-Government, Khiba Masiu said due to the pandemic, the training was divided into two components – the SCCM and AD.
On behalf of the participants, Khotso Mosoeu said the training was vital in terms of widening their ICT scope.

He applauded the ministry for bringing together ICT experts from different ministries with a view to learn and share skills.
This was a technical programme offered virtually, thus adhering to COVID-19 protocols. LeNA
