THE Mothae Kimberlite Mine located in Thaba-Tseka will start mining operations between October and December following its closure in March due to the lock-down induced by the COVID-19 pandemic.

This was announced by the Minister of Mining Serialong Qoo at a press briefing held on Friday in Maseru.

The minister also showed that the mine is on track to introduce a new tendering process in a bid to improve job creation opportunities.

Mr Qoo said the mine owned by Australian-based Lucapa Diamond Company will engage a company to cut and polish diamonds to be sold at higher prices in the market.

This he said will benefit both the government and the mine as there will be more job creation opportunities.

He showed that there will be 60 per cent job creation opportunities as more plants will be introduced and more contractors hired.
