Police are investigating a case in which a Ha Mabote woman is believed to have poisoned her two minor children before she took the poison herself. The woman’s body was later found on Sunday near Durham Link in Temong, Maseru.

The dead woman who lived in a rented home in Ha Mabote was later identified as the mother of two minor children - a boy aged four and his 18-month sister. Police reports show that neighbours heard the two children crying inside the house and they notified the woman’s husband.

The man later found both his children weak and vomiting profusely, reports also show. The children were rushed to hospital where the girl was declared dead upon arrival. The boy was admitted at Queen ’Mamohato Memorial Hospital where he is recovering. Senior Inspector Motsoetla from the police headquarters said the boy later reported that his mother gave them a milk-like substance to drink. Police are investing a case of murder and a possible suicide.
