FORMER Liphakoe head coach Teele Ntšonyana was on Monday kicked out of a week-long coaches’ instructors course at the Bambatha Tšita Sports Arena on allegations of misconduct, the Lesotho Football Association (LeFA) has announced.

The former Likuena striker who is currently without a team after his contract with the Quthing-based Premier League outfit expired at the end of the 2019/2020 was attending the final phase of the workshop when he was shown the door.

He began the first phase of the training in February last year with 17 other coaches drawn from both the Premier League and the A Division.

“LeFA has removed the name of Teele Ntšonyana from its list of participants in the coaching instructor workshop that started at Bambatha Tšita Sports Arena on Monday.

“This move follows a series of allegations received from the District Football Associations (DIFAs) which are LeFA’s affiliates. These allegations involve acts of misconduct which have to be investigated and which if proved would bring the Association into disrepute," LeFA said in a statement.

LeFA further shows that the letters of complaints against Ntšonyana have also been sent to the President of Coaches Association for appropriate measures to be taken against him.

The soccer mother body also contends that it would be in the best interest of the association to disallow Ntšonyana from undergoing training at its costs until such a time that his name has been cleared from any wrongdoing.

It further showed that he will soon be served with relevant letters inviting him to make representations before a disciplinary hearing.

Asked to comment on the matter, Ntšonyana expressed his dismay at LeFA’s decision, saying he only learnt about the accusations when the association’s Coaches Education Officer Lehlohonolo Thotanyana told him that he would no longer be part of the training.

“I was only told that I could no longer be part of the course as LeFA management wanted me out,” he said.

Details of accusations leveled against Ntšonyana still remain sketchy because the association is mum about them.

The ongoing coaches’ instructors training which is facilitated by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) instructor Steve Coetzee from South Africa will see 13 coaches becoming qualified and licensed instructors.

Likuena head coach Thabo Senong who is also part of the participants said coaching education is a crucial component in developing football.

“In any country, if you want to improve football, you should focus on developing coaches,” he noted.

He further applauded LeFA for recruiting more instructors, adding that CAF believes that every country must have its own instructors so that they can develop their own coaches.

“This will help Lesotho to move faster as a footballing country,” Senong also said.
