MASERU – A faction of the National Executive Committee of the ruling All Basotho Convention led by Thomas Thabane yesterday announced its decision to replace the committee that was earlier kicked out by the party leader.

ABC released a circular notifying its members of substitutions made in regard to “unoccupied positions” within the party NEC. The statement declares Dr Moeketsi Majoro of the Thetsane constituency as the party’s new deputy leader. Kemiso Mosenene of the Moyeni constituency has been made the party new chairman, Sentše Rabale of Mashai is the new spokesperson deputised by Joel Mohale of Mafeteng. The statement bearing the signature of the party deputy secretary general Nkaku Kabi, further indicates that the position of secretary general will be filled in due course.

The ABC has not known peace since the February elective conference which ushered into the party’s NEC Professor Nqosa Mahao as the deputy leader. Montoeli Masoetsa was elected spokesperson, ’Matebatso Doti his deputy and Lebohang Hlaele the secretary general with Samuel Rapapa as the chairperson. All five were later axed by Mr Thabane who was not happy with election results.  A verdict to determine the rightful party NEC still pends in the courts of law.
