Preparations are underway to resuscitate the old Queen Elizabeth II Hospital in Maseru, the Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Health, Lefu Manyokole has said. Manyokole said he would be in China over the weekend to complete the final hospital designs before the demolition process commences.

He said the objective of the project is not necessarily to demolish the old structure but to refurbished it from its current ailing condition so that Basotho could still have access to better and improved health services. “We will only demolish the building as soon as everything is in accordance with the design. Our main focus is not to demolish but to revamp the hospital to become the best health centre,” he said.
