MASERU – Prime Minister Thomas Thabane left Lesotho yesterday to attend the 9th Ordinary Southern African Development Community (SADC) summit of Heads of State and Government in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

SADC facilitator to Lesotho, Justice Dingang Moseneke will present a report on progress made by the country in the reform process.  The reforms are expected to be on sectors such as constitution, security, judiciary, public service and media. According to the PM’s press attaché Thabo Thakalekoala, the two-day meeting ends on Sunday.  The theme for the summit is “A conducive environment for inclusive and sustainable industrial development, increased intra-regional trade, and job creation”.

Mr Thakalekoala said the heads of states would assess the progress made in the industrial area in order to develop the SADC region through job creation which leads to economic development. The forum, he said would also decide on how to develop natural resources such as in mining sector in order to create a conducive economic environment for Africans.
