ITUMELENG KOLEILE MASERU (TMGLive) – Police Commissioner Holomo Molibeli confirmed on Tuesday that although they do not have the exact location of ‘Makarabo Mojakhomo, they have received a letter confirming that she has finally been found. Molibeli said he received a letter from advocate Letuka Molati informing him that he had received a call from ‘Makarabo requesting that he informs the police that she is still alive. He said they had non-fruitful prior tip-offs, but finally he is happy that she has appeared. “I am still adamant that she was aided through the escape plan; however, I am glad that she has been found,” he said. The Commissioner pointed out that both the suspect’s passport and her phone have been with the police since her arrest, “however, in a letter I had received, I was told that she had called but I was not given her exact location.” “Thus far, it is not vivid as to where the suspect is and it should be noted that among charges against her, she will be charged with escaping from the police custody,” he said. According to the Commissioner, their prospect of not being hard on women who have just been arrested has left them in awestruck and this pushes them to a corner whereby they will be forced to be hard on woman. He said the disappearance of the fraud suspect, ‘Makarabo, has left a bitter taste in their mouth as the police department has been tainted and people tend to think the worst of the police. He made it a point that police personnel whom the suspect disappeared under their supervision are also accountable and pretty much part of a pending investigation. “Not so long ago, I wrote to the Police Complaints Authority asking them to help investigate on the matter,” Molibeli said. He also said it is quite clear that a suspect could not have escaped on her own, so people who assisted her will be held accountable. Meanwhile, the Commissioner said ‘Makarabo’s case is going to result in a lot of people being called in for questioning, but that should not scare people as that will be merely part of the investigation process. In a letter that was directed to the Police Commissioner, he said the suspect is said to have been aided by high ranking officials to escape. Therefore, almost “everyone” is a suspect. Additionally so, he said even the suspect’s lawyer is a suspect and if need be, he will have to testify in court. ‘Makarabo was head of the ‘Maesaiah Thabane Trust Fund. She escaped from police custody following preparations for the court appearance on charges of fraud. The Commissioner brought to speed the ‘Makarabo after she allegedly disappeared from police custody on May 31, 2018.
