MASERU - The Minister of Police Lehlohonolo Moramotse who faces charges of illegally buying alcohol during the lock-down was on Tuesday released on a M500 bail by the Maseru Magistrate’s Court.

Moramotse who appeared before Senior Resident Magistrate Peter Murenzi is expected back in court on May 25. The matter was prosecuted by Tsietsi Hlaele.

The minister spent Monday night in a police holding cell and was released earlier on Tuesday before he was taken to court.

According to the police, Moramotse handed himself over, earlier on Monday.

The police, however, received a court order which instructed them to release the minister from their custody.

They started chasing him to arrest him after a video footage made rounds on social media showing him as he bought alcohol at a local Chinese off-sales during the lock-down.
