STAFF REPORTER Public transport operators and public works and transport department aborted the planned petitioning of the department by operators after they ironed out differences early this week. Maseru Region Taxi Operators (MRTO) Spokesperson, Lebohang Moea said after the meeting that the association applauds the department and the minister, Prince Maliehe, for giving them attention and attend to their grievances. Amongst others, he explained the parties have agreed on a study tour in the southern region that would establish how transport sectors operate in terms of increasing prices for clients. He added that the study tour will be taken next month “and it is after the tour that we will decide on way forward.” “At the end of the day, we would like to assure our clientele that transport will increase, but only following the learning process,” he said. Moea also indicated that other matters which were discussed included the cross border issue which has been a challenge to taxi operators for a long time. He appealed to the commuters to be cooperative saying the fact that they are now working hand in hand with the department “means there is light at the end of the tunnel.”
