IT has been over a week since taxi operators suspended their seven-day strike and their negotiations with the government are said to be going quite well.

This was disclosed by the Maseru Region Taxi Operators (MRTO) spokesperson Lebohang Moea on Saturday.

He said they have been engaging in meetings with a sub-committee of Cabinet Ministers since the suspension of their strike a week ago.

Mr Moea said this time around the sub-committee has shown great commitment, hopeful that by the end of their talks they will have reached a consensus which will be beneficial to them as operators, their customers and the government as well.
The strike which was scheduled to run for a week was suspended after two days to allow talks between the two parties.

The operators also agreed to return to work because the government suspended operations of the Mobile Court until the finality of the negotiations.
The operators complained that the court harassed their drivers and arrested them without giving them a chance to defend themselves or apply for bail.
