MAFETENG – A Mafeteng LEC primary school teacher who allegedly raped his 13-year-old pupil is expected to appear before the Mafeteng Magistrate’s Court on August 26. Mophethe Ramathe was today released on a M300 bail and the court warned him to stay away from the victim.

Evidence before court shows that Ramathe, 46, is a conductor of the school choir and the victim a member of that group. It is alleged that on August 3, Ramathe released other members of the choir after rehearsals but ordered the victim to stay behind. When they were alone on the school premises, it is alleged Ramathe took the victim to a staff office where he raped her on a desk.
