… tells ABC supporters to withdraw cases from courts and go to the table As the infighting is going on within the ruling All Basotho Convention (ABC) with a series of courts cases in the courts of law, the leader and prime minister of Lesotho, Tom Thabane, has appealed for unity. Speaking during a political rally held at Ha Mabote constituency in Maseru on Sunday, he however regretted the fact that “despite the on-going efforts to bring about a mutual understanding among ABC supporters, while on the other hand our ABC constitution is being challenged in courts of law; there are legal matters that I am obliged to abide by.” Dr. Thabane indicated that the misunderstanding among party members have taken a long time, therefore he urged ABC members to approach such matters with sincerity and truth. He said they cannot deny the fact that the elections of National Executive Committee (NEC) has long been under a spot light and surrounded by misunderstandings way back even before elections. Dr. Thabane further pleaded with party members to refrain from taking ABC issues to courts of law, but urged for the development of common understanding that will determine a way forward and for the benefit of ABC. He also reported that Christian Council of Lesotho (CCL) has invited them as part of building unity among them, adding that unity is strength and they cannot defeat their enemies if they keep on working in isolation. Dr. Thabane also made a strong appeal to ABC members who feel like they have been denied justice of entering the office to put their personal interests aside, but focus on making ABC as a party to be their priority, adding that on the other hand they should as well accept that there are some sides which are not satisfied with the elections. “Do not forget where you come from,” he warned. He also reported that some of the wool and mohair stock farmers have started to receive their payments and the expectation is that by end of May every farmer will be fully paid. He said he would soon meet with livestock farmers associations in order to find a lasting solution to the challenge that they are facing now or not receiving their payments on promised time. Lena
