Prime Minister Motsoahae Thabane has shuffled cabinet ministers and at the same time swapped principal secretaries with immediate effect. Announcing the new developments on Tuesday, the Prime Minister’s Press Secretary Thabo Thakalekoala, said the changes were in accordance with the powers vested in the premier by the national constitution.

He said the announcement was made by the Office of the Government Secretary on “the inter changing of ministerial positions and Principal Secretaries (PS) in some of the government ministries with immediate effect.” According to the announcement, Tsukutlane Au has been transferred from home affairs to energy and meteorology swapping positions with Mokoto Hloaele. Joang Molapo has swapped positions with the newly appointed minister for tourism, Semano Sekatle who took over the public service.

On the principal secretaries, Lefu Manyokole has vacated the position of senior private secretary to the prime minister to take a position which he once held as principal secretary for health. His former position has been filled with the appointment of Kabelo Lehora. Teiho ’Mamasiane has left the position of principal secretary for basic education in the education and training to tourism as principal secretary.

The current principal secretary for health Advocate ’Mole Khumalo has gone to social development. ’Masethati Mabeleng, who was the principal secretary responsible for cabinet economic affairs in the prime minister’s office has been moved to forestry and she swapped the position with Thebe Mokoatle who moved to cabinet economic affairs. Lerotholi Pheko has been appointed principal secretary for labour and employment. Dr Neo Liphoto has taken responsibility over basic education in the ministry of education while Matela Thabane has been appointed for police and safety.
