Maseru- Mo-Vember is celebrated in November, involving the growing of moustache during this month to raise awareness of men’s health issues such as prostate cancer, testicular and suicide. On Saturday November 4, was the November edition of the Nala project community market, at Sefikeng sa Moshoeshoe, which has been around since 2016.

In an interview with metro newspaper, Moleboheng Rampou, the co-founder of Nala, says the theme was ‘mo-Vember’ which is a global awareness campaign for men’s health issues. She says it was prostate cancer awareness, with a blue ribbon. She adds: “The Nala project community market is a community developed initiative aimed at supporting, promoting and developing local producers in different industries.  We are all about encouraging everyone to buy local and be proud and celebrate our unique culture, country and talent”.

Miss Rampou further stated that the first market was in March 2016, as to promote all the materials local and also provides a family friendly recreation event for people, local and visitors. With Nala project, every local producer is welcome: from arts to food, clothing, entertainment, services and charities. It also encourages and promotes self-employment, especially amongst youths, while contributing to the cultural and tourism industry.

Not only they are to promote local producers, but also, looking forward to a more solid year in 2019, where they hope to see more producers using the ‘Nala’ platform to increase the income and to see more talent and creativity unleashed. “This year we will collaborate with a popular local annual event blankets and bling. Both events will expose the local producers to more potential customers as they attract even more Basotho in diaspora than those attracted by Nala. It will give them a chance to widen their market and networks,” she concludes.
