MASERU – High Court judge, Justice Keketso Moahloli has been allocated to hear the matter in which a senior police officer is seeking an order to direct the commissioner of police to pay him M86 000 in per diem.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Motlatsi Mapola also cited the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Police and the Attorney General as respondents in the matter. He wants the respondents to explain why his payment cannot settled at an interest rate of 18.5 percent per annum. In his court papers ACP Mapola shows that from May 19 July 17, 2017 he attended a seminar on Grand Event Construction Control System that was held in the People’s Republic of China. He says he was appointed head of a 30-man delegation of the Lesotho police who attended the 68-day workshop.

On August 10, 2017, he wrote a letter to the police boss requesting his intervention on the issue of his non-payment of international subsistence allowance which he said he was entitled to as provided for by the law. He says the respondents have no reason for not paying him. For their part, the respondents have also filed a notice of intention to oppose ACP Mapola's application. Advocate Nthati Pheko represents ACP Mapola in the matter whose hearing date is yet to be set.
