Maseru- A 20-year-old woman of Ketane, in Mohale's Hoek who is a Form C student at one of the schools in the area awaits a murder trial for dumping her new born in a pit latrine. The woman was admitted at a clinic at Ketane on June 4 where he gave birth to a baby boy and was released on June 6, the Lesotho Mounted Police Service (LMPS) spokesperson Superintendent Mpiti Mopeli asserted at a weekly media briefing held at the Police Headquarters on Monday. Superintendent Mopeli said the suspect confessed that she dumped her child in a neighbour's pit latrine on her way from the hospital. Superintendent Mopeli therefore noted that police investigations in relation to the matter are ongoing, adding that the suspect will soon appear before courts. Meanwhile, a 19-year-old man of Matlameng, in Leribe awaits trial in police custody charged with the murder of a 65-year-old man after suspecting him of his stealing his horse. According to the police report, preliminary investigations reveal that the victim was also suspected of stealing the suspect's cattle in 2005. Superintendent Mopeli noted that the deceased had stab wounds from a knife. The suspect arrested on Saturday. Investigations into the matter are ongoing. Lena
