BANTU and LDF dropped points as Matlama went 10 points clear with a big win in the race for the 2020/21 Vodacom Premier League title.

Defending league champions, Bantu were held to a one-all draw by Likhopo on Sunday at the LCS Ground having come from a goal down to salvage a draw, courtesy of a goal from the penalty spot by Hlompho Kalake.

Thabiso Mari had put the youthful Likhopo side ahead in the early stages of the match, but Bantu managed to find their way back into the game with an equaliser to walk away with a point.

A-Matšo-Matebele are going through a rough patch since the club appointed Thabo Tsutsulupa as a coach with just one victory from four matches.

The former Kaizer Chiefs youth coach was appointed as the head coach of the Mafeteng-based outfit after the team parted ways with its league winning coach, Bob Mafoso.

They trail leaders, Matlama by 10 points in the race for the championship though they still have a game in hand.

Elsewhere at the weekend, LDF suffered a surprise 2-1 defeat at the hands of CCX in a match played at the Ratjomose Barracks, which saw the army side lose their third spot to rivals LCS in the league standings.

LDF are in fourth position with 37 points from 20 games and now trail Matlama by a whopping 16 points.

Linare’s ambition to finish this campaign among the top 8 teams suffered a setback as they went down 1-0 to Lijabatho at home on Sunday.

Mohlominyane Morena scored the solitary goal of the match to hand Motebang Makhetha his first defeat in just his second match since taking over the reins from Teboho Moloi at Tse-Tala.

The Hlotse-based outfit is in seventh position with 31 points but has LMPS breathing down its neck after a 4-0 humiliation of Lifofane on Saturday.

Veteran midfielder Bokang Mothoana, Roboama Koloti and Monyatheli Ntobo were in great form as the Police outfit demolished relegation threatened Lifofane.

Vodacom Premier League leaders, Matlama were also ruthless in the matches played over the weekend as they registered a 4-0 victory over struggling Sefotha-Fotha.

Theletsane Makume was the star man for Tse-Putsoa, scoring two quick goals to give Matlama a comfortable lead in the hunt for their eleventh league title.

Long serving duo of Phafa Tšosane and Jane Thabantso each added a goal in the score-sheet to hand the Sea-Point-based side a big victory to open a 10-point gap between them and second placed Bantu.

Former league champions LCS and Lioli were also in action on Saturday registering victories over Swallows and Kick4life respectively.

Veteran defenders Kopano Tseka and Refiloe Mothae each scored a goal as Masheshena moved to third position with 37 points while Tanki Seoli netted the only goal of the match to hand Tse-Nala a hard-fought win over Kick4Life.

The Teyateyaneng-based side is in fifth position with 37 points.
