SOUTH African Premier League side-Chippa United have sacked former Likuena captain Lehlohonolo Seema after six months in charge of the club.

Seema quit his post as Bloemfontein Celtic coach in July to join the Chilli Boys and was able to help the club avoid the chop in the 2019/2020 season that was completed in a bio bubble.

However, the team has had a difficult start to the 2020/2021 season registering just one victory in eight matches, which led to the suspension of Seema on Tuesday before his subsequent sacking late on Wednesday.

The Chilli Boys announced in a statement on Tuesday that they have parted ways with the former Likuena skipper and have since replaced him with Belgian Luc Eymael.

“Chippa United Football Club have appointed Belgian Luc Eymael as the senior head coach until the end of the season. Eymael’s first match in charge will be the DSTV Premiership fixture against SuperSport United at Lucas Moripe Stadium when the season resumes in the New Year on January 6, 2021,” the statement said.

“The club confirms that it met former coach Lehlohonolo Seema on Wednesday, where the consensus from both parties was to part ways with immediate effect.

“This decision comes after an indifferent start to this season with the team currently in 14th place on the league standing after eight matches. The team has won once and lost five matches in the campaign so far-including successive defeats from the last three matches.

“We would like to wish Mr Seema well with his future endeavors, and thank him for his contribution towards the Chippa United brand,” adds the statement.
