VODACOM Premier League sides, Linare FC and Kick4Life games have been suspended till further notice, after four of the Leribe-based outfit’s players tested positive for COVID-19.

PLMC Public Relations Officer, Qamako Mahao said Linare management took the entire team for COVID-19 testing last week after some of their players had shown symptoms of the pandemic.

Four of the players later tested positive. This was after a midweek league game between Linare and Kick4Life.

Mahao said after receiving the results, PLMC suspended this weekend league fixture between the two clubs.

“The two teams’ fixture will remain suspended until further notice,” he also said.

This is the first time players from the 16 Premier League clubs tested positive for COVID-19 since the virus broke out in Lesotho last year.

The league was suspended in the past soccer season due to threats posed by the pandemic. After the current season kicked off later than normal, it was also disrupted by the outbreak of the second wave of the virus and currently the league is being played without spectators.
No Linare official was immediately available to comment on the issue. LeNA
