MASERU – Makoanyane XI failed to capitalise against Mauritius on Sunday to register a win in the Council of Southern Africa Football Association (COSAFA) U-20 Championship held in Lusaka, Zambia at the Sunset stadium.

Although the team scored first through Tšeliso Botsane in the 16th minute of the first half, their opponents however managed to equalise in the dying minutes of that first stanza.

On the 71st minute, an on form Botsane once again put Makoanyane XI in the lead completing his brace but yet again, the team let Mauritius to level the score line.

The game ended with the final score at 2 – 2. On Tuesday, Makoanyane meet the defending champions Amajita of South Africa in what could prove to be a difficult encounter for Lesotho.

In a post-match interview, Makoanyane XI coach Bob Mafoso expressed his disappointment, saying the players only played well for 60 minutes of the game and then allowed their opponents to come back to the game.

Mafoso said the team could have played better and produced better results.
Makoanyane XI went down 3-0 in the opening game against Madagascar.  Mauritius lost their opening match 5-0 against South Africa in Group B.

In other groups, Botswana drew 2-2 with Malawi in group A while the hosts Zambia won their second match of the tournament and Angola in group C beat Mozambique 1-0.
